So plan on an educational meeting with lots of practical techniques and helpful information!

In Other News...
We are in the process of creating a new website for BAPVA. The site is currently under development and should be completed in the next month (or so). The site will offer members a more comprehensive profile page with support for an embedded video demo and images gallery. Members will also have the opportunity to contribute blog articles and business updates. We are still working out the details, so watch your email and please let us know if there are any features you want added.

Program #1: Audio Techniques Demo
We start the meeting off with two of our seasoned and expert members on demonstrating sound editing techniques. Ted Banucci, using Final Cut Pro and Oren Arieli on a PC based Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 system. They will simultaneously cover the proper editing techniques specific to mixing audio with proper levels, notching background music when emphasising natural audio, tricks for enhancing poorly captured audio, normalization and equalization,  wireless static removal, syncing unlinked sources and re-syncing dropout gaps.

Ted Banucci
Ted is the President of The Last Cut, a visual media company in San Jose.  Although Ted likes to pretend he knows what he is doing when editing in Final Cut Pro, in reality, he has a special talent for pressing a bunch of buttons to make things magically work with a few random, lucky guesses.  Ironically, he was asked to demonstrate FCP audio techniques despite his wife claims that he is hard of hearing.  In his spare time, Ted enjoys editing action videos using helmet cameras, which he sells at camarush.com.

Oren Arieli
Oren began in photography while still in high school, but was pulled towards the emerging wedding video field when asked to assist a friend on a shoot. With a few assists under his belt, he purchased a Panasonic tube camera and tethered VHS deck and began shooting on his own.  From there, he decided to pursue broadcast communications, for which he earned a Bachelor of Science. While working towards his degree, Oren worked for ABC News as offline editor, SportsChannel NY as studio cameraman and USA Networks as tape operator. After graduation, he was asked to teach a broadcast communications course at his college while working for Betelgeuse Post in Manhattan. Relocating to California in the mid 90's, Oren put in 7 years at Eagan Studios where he served as photographer, videographer and editor. In 2001, he ventured out on his own at AwesomeShot Studios. His clients include eBay, Applied Materials, Aspect, Creative Labs, IBM, Stanford, San Jose Mercury News and the Montel Williams Show. He is married and loves to travel whenever time allows.

Program #2: Round-Table and Show & Tell

After the demo, we will open the floor to a round table discussion and anything goes specific to audio and music. Ted and Oren will also be available to demonstrate answers on the two editing systems. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your own tips or techniques.

Please plan on bringing in your favorite sound gear for show and tell. This can be any type of production or post-production sound equipment. If you have a favorite mic, digital recorder, DSLR Mount or wiz-bang gadget... bring it along and show it off. Keep in mind, you will have to explain what it is and how you use it.

See you there!
